Every year at St. Mary’s we organise study groups during advent which usually run for four weeks. Subjects vary widely. In 2011 we studied the doctrine of creation which proved to be one of our most taxing yet rewarding subjects yet. Members of the clergy produced notes which formed the basis for preparation along with recommended bible readings but in previous years Advent Groups have also read books together. The groups generally attract between 30 and 40 people overall. The evening groups meet in the homes of members of the congregation who provide a light meal. There is also a Thursday morning group which takes place during the Primrose Tea Rooms.
