Walk: Literary Marylebone

Come and explore the literary secrets of Marylebone in a walk led by City of Westminster tour guide David Brown that starts from the Sherlock Holmes statue in front of the main exit from Baker Street Underground station. The walk will end close to Oxford Street underground station. The walk examines how the area of Marylebone developed, and also looks at many of the famous authors who lived, visited and worked in the area including H G Wells, Wilkie Collins, Arthur Conan Doyle, Arnold Bennett, Elizabeth Barrett, Charles Dickens, Wilfred Owen, Edgar Wallace and John Buchan. The walk will be between an hour and a half and two hours long. David’s mobile is 07917025441 which can be used up to the start of the walk. If you are late arriving, then turn left and wait for the group to arrive at the corner of Allsop Place and Marylebone Road (opposite Madame Tussauds).
