Preaching and Pints:
Here at St Mary’s we are growing in our appreciation, and confidence, to wrestle with the texts of the Bible. Every third Sunday of the month, at 6pm, we hold a service of Word followed by a discussion in our local pub – hence the name, ‘Preaching and Pints’. Our pattern has been to begin with a short service of the Word, with sermon focused on the text for the evening, in our side chapel in the church; this usually goes for about 30-45 minutes. After the service we head over to our local pub where we have a discussion, over a beverage, about the text, the sermon and a wide range of topics/issues that emerge from our dialogue. We always aim to finish up by 8pm. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at: firstname.lastname@example.org or 07876879858. We hope you will be able to join us one of these evenings.
On April 19th, we were honoured to have Rabbi Mark Solomon as our guest preacher. This was our first time trying to record and publish the evening. You will find the night broken down into two parts. The first audio clip was Rabbi Mark’s sermon, which is preceded by a reading of our texts from the evening, Genesis 8:13-9:17. The second clip was a recording of our discussion. We hope you enjoy it.
